The Artist Life, Part 1 of maybe too many

I started painting when I was a little girl, my first art exhibit was back in 1981, and I was born in 1977. So I was pretty little when I made the choice of becoming an artist. Its been a long road, I took the less traveled.

Why the less traveled? Because it could have been easier to study and work on something more reliable than art. Art is very fulfilling but is a hard choice when you need to pay bills. Thank goodness I was blessed with the gift of teaching, that has been a life saver in different moments of my life, but still, I wish I could only live thanks to my talent.

Back in the years is was harder to make yourself known, only though galleries and sometimes their freaky curators was the only way into "fame", nowadays is easier to find your tribe because of social media. You have no idea how much I thank Twitter for existing, thanks to the few characters I can use in their platform, people do find my store online, or this blog.

I want to show you one of my latest paintings, later I will explain the concept behind these artworks. Most of them are autobiographical, I paint my life, mainly, you will see.

So, I am right here, at 41 years old, still looking to make it in the art world, as a mom, single mom actually, small business owner, with a busy schedule, because of parenting, trying to fit in the fast paced world, sometimes feeling bad because I don't have the life other moms do have. But I can't complain, it has been a good journey, I have a daughter I hope grows to follow her dreams no matter what it takes, just like I do.

In following posts, Ill tell you about how it all begun. And how it has developed, I am glad to have a reader to share my experience with, so, let me know who you are! I think there has to be a way to communicate with my readers. I haven't been in Blogger since forever, so just have patience with me.
